I was chatting with a friend when we realized that we have quite lost the human touch….and are embracing machines in a big way ! Subtracting the time you snore, probably 70% of your time is spent with one of the below,
1. Mobile phone, 2. Laptop and 3. TV set.
Technology has definitely made life easier and more exciting, but it pretty much dictates our spend patterns of time and space. The reamining 30% only goes into the necessary daily doings of life like gulping down or commuting. I can only see it getting worse in the future, making a complete veggie out of us. i Ponder if it is time for a down turn of tech. What do you think ?

I have been caught a couple of times for zig zag trail in my car, but getting caught for drunken flying is taking it to a whole new level. 28 pilots have been found to have consumed alcohol prior to flying the planes, and kingfisher, being true to its name tops the list. Actually speaking, i know a few people who go drunk to their work place, but the worst damage they can do is to write code that is illegible to the computer. I have heard stories of surgeons who take a peg or two prior to performing their acts. While the near ones are praying outside the theatre, our hero would be busy gulping down some vodka and see the world in different shades.
Why they do it ?
1. You tend to get more gutsy to face the world
2. The world starts appearing better and beautiful
3. It is indeed thrilling, and you no more are a mere mortal
4. You feel more in control, though quite hypocritic
5. You dont get caught, unless some wise guy orders a sudden audit
What can be done to curb it ?
Actually speaking, I dont think it can be curbed.
Am waiting to see, if these pilots get to fly again ! If they do, they would do nose dives again for sure !

I recently read an article which talks about ITC renaming its “Greeting cards” division to “Education and Stationery”, as the 300Cr Indian market 2 years back has now shrunk to 100Cr. This is one industry badly badly hit by the internet influence, with advantages of cost, time and space all winning over the conventional paper card. However, I for one believe it cant replace the personal touch.
You still have famous “letters” of the who’s who being auctioned at enormous rates and valued for the reason of the personal touch. I dont see anyone auctioning famous “emails” neither now nor in the future. This change has heightened the “personal” value of a card which means, you wouldnt take the pains of a writing a card unless it is very personal, which cant be replaced by arial/garamond. I ponder if the era of greeting cards is over, or what should the industry do to revive it.

Yesterday, I was having a talk with my boss on how there has been a sudden drop in the no of air passengers in india. Some of the travel websites have reported a reduction of as much as 30% in their weekly revenues. Suddenly everyone seems to observe that you dont get tickets on any sector for less than Rs 3500 to 4000. What this indicates is a clear trend of the common man going back to his road and rail transport, and huge losses for the airline industry, who inturn have cut down the number of sectors they fly on.
It was not more than a decade back, when anyone who travels by air is a top corporate honcho and who travels first class in a train is senior executive level. The equation got completely changed, thanks to air deccan and the subsequent LCC entrants. The corporate sector has infact got a bit overboard by embracing LCCs in a big way, for benefits of time and hygiene factors. With cost cutting being the buzz word, curbing air travel would save them enough costs. My question is, Is the fad coming to an end ?

Fan Clubs In India
75 of every 100 movie viewers in India are from south india. Having lived most of my life here, it doesnot come as a surprise for me. Some of the stars here have fan clubs numbering into 1000s. These fan clubs celebrate their buddays, movie released, conduct camps n wht not with the star amassing great reputation and credit. The question is, “why such an unexplainable idol worship, only in this part of the country?”
One explanation by manish saini, is as follows. During the past, the north used to develop much faster than south, with more no of vela people in the south. Also, most of them being agriculturists had more free time at hand. No of achievers being low in south, translates into more admiration for each achiever. Admiration coupled with time factor to keep themselves engaged resulted in todays fan hysteria. Any more theories ?
